Having written and published a broad range of books across genres and age categories for the world's largest publishers, I bring both a wealth of experience and passion to every new client and project. Below are some of the services I provide for writers of Picture Books, Chapter Books, Middle Grade, and Young Adult (across all genres).
Developmental Edits
Developmental edits focus on the big-picture aspects of a manuscript, such as plot structure, pacing, character development, voice, and world-building. The aim of this level of editing is to help the writer to shape their manuscript into a story that is clear, well-structured, and emotionally compelling through detailed feedback and in-manuscript notes.
Line-Level Edits
Once overarching story elements have been refined through developmental edits, line-level edits help to improve a manuscript through revision at the sentence level. The aim of this level of editing is to strengthen a story's flow and readability by narrowing in on word choice, consistency, and narrative issues.
Copy Edits
Copy edits move beyond larger issues of plot, character, pacing, and voice and focus in on grammatical issues, punctuation, inconsistencies, and errors. This is typically the last step in the editing process before moving on to proofreading and pass pages.
Proofreading
The final step in the editing process, proofreading is an opportunity to give your manuscript that last and detailed once 0ver in order to ensure that any errors that might have been missed during the revision and editing process are addressed.
Query Letter Edit
Between the polished manuscript and the agent ready to help it find its perfect home lays the stand-out query letter. I will provide feedback on your drafted query letter in order to help you to make it as strong as possible before sending it to agents.
Coaching
The publishing industry is a vast and constantly changing world that demands authors not only be masters of their craft but also be prolific in the business of publishing and self-promotion. In addition to writing, revising, and reading, one must weed their way through an endless litany of advice and gatekeeping while keeping the rest of their life in balance. The ups and downs are constant; the goal posts ever changing. There are as many paths to success as there are rejections and heartbreak. During our one-on-one coaching sessions, I will help you to maneuver this equally rewarding and scary landscape. We will work together according to your goals - no area of guidance is off limit.

Developmental Edits: $.03 per word
Line-Level Edits: $.025 per word
Copy Edits: $.02 per word

$75 per hour
$280 for four one-hour sessions (to be used within one month)
